UNCHARTED – Live Action Fan Film (2018) with Nathan Fillion

Today is a bit unusual as, instead of a game review I thought I’d share this exciting fan made film for Uncharted! Having watched through it I can safely say that this adaption with Nathan Fillion may be better than the official Uncharted film with Tom Holland cast (sorry Tom, love what you’ve brought to the Spiderman role). Done? Good.

So go into it a little bit, Nathan Fillion (NF) dresses similarly to Uncharted 4’s Nathan Drake (ND), and clearly inspiration is being drawn from that older version of ND. The ring on the necklace is a nice little detail too. Watching this personally, I was really impressed with the attention to source material here. Beyond NF witty and charming banter with the bad guys (worse guys? I mean ND is a thief) and him mirroring the brawling haymaker reliant fighting style that ND uses in the game. The camera work, especially when NF gets a gun is inspired by the video game camera angles which for me is just dedication you would only see from a fan of the Uncharted series.

Must give a mention to the casting, besides NF, with Stephen Lang taking the role of Sully and pulling it off with cigar chomping ease. There is some nice rapport between Mr Lang and Mr Filion. Mircea Monroe as Elena looks the part but unfortunately I didn’t see enough of her to render judgement. Looking at the bad guys, Geno Segers as Diego has the deepest voice i’ve ever heard. I swear that my house starting reverberating whenever that man spoke! Unfortunately wasn’t as impressed by his performance compared to El Tigre, played by Ernie Reyes Jr, who I think was genuinely annoyed at NF for something because that anger looked a little real.

Easter Eggs! Oh the easter eggs! I counted a few there but there may be more that I haven’t seen yet. Name drops like Chloe feature as well as nods to previous discoveries by ND also appear. Really enjoyed the 2 story fall easter egg, very Uncharted. I’d recommend trying to see how many you recognise.

Anyhow, just a geekgasm post this week. I was going to write about the Spiderman PS4 trailers and my long gaming history with Spiderman but I thought this may be more interesting for y’all.
